Throughout my life I have been called a "taste maker" a couple times in press and what not. Generally I consider people who call me this silly, as I am a pretty average dude. However, every once in a while I do make a call that ends up being true. One I can think of in recent memory is about 2 years ago, this little dude named Chuck hit me with a CD while I was DJing. Although it only had 2 songs on it, it was the best CD anyone had ever given me while I was playing. I put it in rotation that night (which by the way NEVER happens) and from then on, I have helped him in whatever way I could to get his shit out there. I actually tried to put him on live at a club I was DJing once and they yanked the mic out of his hands because they thought he was ghetto. Coincidentally, that particular club now finds it suitable to put him in their ads as a "celebrity" that attends the club. It is funny how that type of stuff works out, but c'est la vie, I am off topic.
That being said, I am making a call now. For like the last 8 months, I have been telling my friends that are producers to start taking samples from the big house/techno/rave hit's of the 90's. People remember those tracks, and to my immediate knowledge, it hasn't really been over done or done at all yet. I can think of a few songs like "Why You Wanna" by T.I. (samples the house cut "Gypsy Woman" by Crystal Waters) but not a ton of house/techno/rave stuff gets sampled.
Then I got this request for a Pitbull song that I didn't have while playing in Boston. I checked it out when I got back to Chicago, and well...
Ravehop.

Along those lines, I got on this a couple months ago. -
